Cheri (Rachael Leigh Cook) gets hit by the van driven by Mark (Colin Hanks). Frank (Cheri's dad) (Patrick Swayze) throws Aaron over the bridge and the body hits Jack's car. Cheri isn't pregnant and she lied about it so she could get money from Aaron and Duffy and run off with Jack. At the beginning of the film, Cheri was the one talking with Jack on the phone. Also at the beginning: Duffy and Buzzy (Hilary Swank) sneak out of the police officer's car when Jack runs away and the officer chases him.
