The Emperor's New Clothes ending / spoiler
Napoleon is unable to convince Pumpkin that he really is Napoleon and not Eugene Lenormand. He quits his plan of returning to power and decides to live his life as an ordinary man with Pumpkin. He leaves the military uniform and a message for Bommel saying: "Eugene Lenormand has continued on his way..." After his death, Napoleon is buried next to Pumpkin. Eugene Lenormand's body is brought back from the island of St. Helena and buried at Les Invalides.
