Alex ends up killing Claire with Michael Boll's golf club. Michael's older brother Pismo helps his sibling dump Claire in the tar pits as Alex has left enough circumstantial evidence to pin the blame on him. Alex then informs the cops where the body is, and it's dragged out of the tar pits. Eventually, Michael tricks Alex into confessing while Pismo secretly videotapes the conversation. Pismo slips, and with Michael distracted, Alex, enraged at their trickery, charges Michael with a knife, only for Michael to fatally shoot Alex square in the chest. Alex's body topples over the pier into the nighttime ocean. Pismo calls the Police and Michael goes to meet them with the evidence.
