Lost plot summary

Down the ladder is the guy who is seen in Jack's flashback. He's the guy who is running around the stadium and talks to jack when he hurts his ankle. He's been living down there for years and every 108 minutes he has to type the infamous numbers into a computer as instructed by a guy on an old reel of film. It's not clear what happens if you don't enter the numbers but everyone's too afraid to find out. Anyway, Jack recognises the guy who has gone a bit loopy and has an awful lot of weapons at his disposal. He ends up running away after telling Jack what to do on the computer. Meanwhile on the other side of the island we see that the people in the tail section of the plane have in fact survived and are having difficulties of their own with the so-called 'others'. After they crashed into the sea some of the people who survived were taken into the jungle by the 'others', including two children one of which has a teddy bear. Later on, when some of the 'tailies' are in the jungle hiding, we see the feet of a group of the others, because of the camera angle, and a child holding the bear. I reckon the others take people from the crash to be assimilated into their group. Furthermore, if you remember in series one there is the guy who infiltrated the fuselage group and took pregnant Claire. His name I think was Ethan. We find out that the same thing happened to the tailies, except they realised there was something up and trapped him in a hole in the ground, but a sentimental person in the group let him out. Anyway, I thought it was fairly strange that that guy's name was Nathan...very similar and we know that in this show there are no coincidences. So, on TV we're just about to see the finale episodes of series 1, and lots of exciting things happen. The raft gets launched successfully, with Sawyer (mmmm), Michael, Walt and Jin on board. They have the radar thing that Sayid gave them and on the first night they pick something up. There is a big row over whether they should use their one flare and they end up doing so. They see a small boat coming towards them and are obviously very jolly. There are some weird piratey looking people on board who say something to the effect of 'give us the boy'. The raftees are understandably a little miffed and Sawyer gets ready with the gun he secretly has. There is a tussle and it ends up that the raft gets blown up, Sawyer gets shot in the shoulder, Jin seems to be missing, Michael is left clinging to pieces of the raft, and Walt is screaming as the boat speeds off into the night. As time drags on Sawyer and Michael argue and sit on their pieces of raft. Sawyer pulls the bullet out of his shoulder with his bare hands - look out for that ladies, it doesn't get much sexier - and eventually the current brings them back to the island. As they get onto the beach Jin comes screaming out of the jungle with his hands tied, struggling to say 'Others, others!'. We see a group of scary people coming towards them who put them in a hole in the ground. It turns out these people are the tailies who are extra cautious of outsiders because of the people that had been taken. They all decide to go and find the fuselage gang and begin a trek across the jungle. Meanwhile in Jackland a system has been set up to type in the numbers and Hurley has been put in charge of the huge stash of food that the guy has been living off (hence his weight remaining constant). They realise that with the number of people they have there, the food will not last long, so they decide to give everyone something and let them eat it when they want. There is a really sweet moment when Charlie finally gets to give Claire the peanut butter he promised her. So, (this stuff is hard to remember you know) the usual stuff happens, conflicts and flashbacks yada yada, and the tailie group has to carry Sawyer because he's passed out from the bullet-wound, and they're all arguing with the self -proclaimed leader Ana-Lucia, who is the girl Jack meets at the bar and exchanges seat numbers with. (Ooh, one thing I noticed was that Jack's seat number in 42 something, and Ana-Lucia's is 23 something....think of the numbers!!) Anyway this huge guy called Mr Echo decides to take Sawyer himself and just throws him over his shoulder. He takes him back and makes friends with everyone. Sayid's and Shannon's relationship has developed to say the least and for some reason that I can't remember they have an argument and Shannon goes storming off into the jungle, where it has know begun to pour with rain (always a sign of drama to come). Meanwhile the rest of the tailies are gingerly making their way through the jungle in search of the fuselage gang. Ana-Lucia has begun to lose it and is very much on edge. We find out from flashbacks that she was a cop who lost her confidence when a criminal shot her when she wasn't expecting it. So they're trooping through with guns and everything when A-L hears something and goes ahead, she’s very edgy so when Shannon appears in front of her it's no surprise that she shoots. Sayid is left there holding the now dead Shannon in his arms. It seems it’s not good to be siblings on this island. Jin is reunited with Sun who had found the bottle with messages washed up and feared the worst. Episode 9 of series 2 ends with Michael, who was investigating the mysterious computer, when he hears a beep that is different to the usual ones. He has been going fairly nutty about Walt having been taken. He goes up to the computer and sees a message - Hello? He replies hello and the show ends with the person on the other end typing...Dad?.....

...later...

The Scottish guy (Desmond) runs away on a boat but finds himself back on the island, him and Locke decide to not press the button. Jack, Saywer and Kate are captured by the others due to Michael who leaves with Walt on a boat. The numbers end with 'system failure' there is a painful sound and the sky goes violet. Desmond uses a manual override and everything goes back to normal. Some cold turkish nerds see something they've been looking for on a computer and ring Desmond's rich girlfriend.
