The Time Machine plot summary
In 1899 London, George (Rod Taylor), an idealistic scientist, arrives disheveled, surprising dinner friends with his story of time travel. Told in flash back, he presents a time machine model to his group a week prior. Afterward, his friend Filby (Allan Young) expresses concern, but George leaves 1899 & travels briefly to 1940 & 1966, seeing world war. In 802,701 AD, he realizes humanity has split into the very simple Eloi, above ground dwellers, & the cannibalistic, underground Morlocks. He rescues an Eloi named Weena (Yvette Mimieux), & teaches the pacifist Eloi to fight for themselves. George returns to 1899 with his story, but his friends don't believe him. He leaves again, but with 'three books '. Filby, not knowing when George will return, realizes his friend has ' all the time in the world '.
