The Count of Monte Cristo ending / spoiler
Edmond (James Caviezel) kills Fernand (Guy Pearce). Mercedes is shot but survives. Albert is Edmond's son, not Fernand's son. Edmond gets back together with Mercedes, buys Chateau d'If and thanks the priest for the final and most valuable lesson.
